BCIT Education Council committees subseries

Subseries consists of reports, research materials and minutes prepared by standing committees of the Educational Council.
Since its formation in 1979, the Educational Council has established a number of committees to deal with specific issues relating to educational policy and procedures. Standing committees represented in this subseries include: Agenda committee, Educational committee, Educational planning and policy committee, Educational standards committee, Nominating committee, Programs and priorities committee, Student appeals committee, Student services committee,Curriculum committee, Programming standing committee, and Executive committee.

BCIT Education Council minutes and agendas subseries

Subseries consists of agendas and minutes and some committee reports. Subseries is arranged in chronological order. Minutes for the following years are missing: 1984; 1986-1993.
Includes some documents that provide background information for the various agenda items. In most cases, the documents formed part of packages that were sent to Council members, and selected BCIT officials prior to each Board meeting.
Includes some meeting packages for the BC Academic Health Council (BCAHC) which was a collaborative planning group for organizations providing health professional education in BC.

BCIT Education Council task forces subseries

Subseries consists of documentation relating to Task forces initiated by the Educational Council. Task forces represented in this subseries include: Applied Research; Instructional Innovation; Unit of Credit; Experiential Learning and its Assessment; Student Research Papers; and Institute Evaluation.

BCIT Full-time Program Calendars

Subseries consists of BCIT full-time calendars between 1964 and 2007. Between 1964 and 2004 this publication was called the BCIT Full-time Programs calendar. In the Fall of 2004 the format and name of this publication was changed to Path Finder. In 2007 the title was changed to Viewbook. This publication provide prospective and current students with information on the services, locations, and programs offered as well as entrance requirements, fees and course prerequisites. Full-time calendars (from 1965-66 to 2006-07) are available in digital PDF format. NOTE: The 1964-1965 digital full-time calendar is missing. The 1965-1966 print full-time calendar is missing. The 1975-1976 digital full-time calendar is missing. The 1979-1980 print and digital full-time calendar is missing. The 2000-2001 digital full-time calendar is missing. BCIT Newsletters

Subseries consists of many, predominantly short-lived newsletters produced by different departments and administrative units at BCIT between 1970 and 2008. Includes some planning materials for a few of the newsletters. Longer running newsletters include the BCIT Developments, BCIT Messenger, BCIT Connection and BCIT Update.

BCIT Organization charts

Subseries includes records about the organizational framework at BCIT. It includes organizational charts, re-organization communications, etc. Documents include function charts, departmental functions and relationships, organization records, etc.

BCIT Part-time Program Calendars

Subseries consists of the part-time studies program calendars. Between 1964 and 1995 all calendars were produced in a booklet-bound format. 1981 saw the introduction of semester-specific newsprint calendars and brochure type supplements for specific schools, trades and technologies. Part-time program calendars (from 1965 to 2006) are available in digital PDF format. The Spring/Summer 2007 Part-time Studies guide is significantly different from previous versions. It has less than half the number of pages, and the dimensions of the guide are also smaller. The publication is marketing focused, highlighting the benefits of attending BCIT part-time, and giving overviews of our areas of study. It features short descriptions of programs and subject areas, and lists the course names and codes of those offered this term. This format does not include course descriptions. Readers were directed to visit the BCIT web for these details. Single issue of Part-time studies calendar from fall 2012.

BCIT President reports subseries

Subseries is comprised of President’s reports to the Education Council. Includes President’s Report to Board of Governors between 1982 and 1994. See Board of Governors fonds "Board Reports" for Principals Reports to the Board of Governors 1974-1979.

BCIT Programs and Couses website (full and part-time web-based program catalogue) from 2017-11-03

Between 1964 and 2004 this publication was called the BCIT Full-time Programs calendar. In the Fall of 2004 the format and name of this publication was changed to Path Finder. In 2007 the title was changed to Viewbook. Currently it is called Programs and Courses.

Subseries consists of BCIT full-time and part time program calendars from 2017-11-03. This website provides prospective and current students with information on the services, locations, and programs offered as well as entrance requirements, graduating requirements, fees and course prerequisites.

2020-11-21 BCIT ITS migrated the site to WordPress. Daily crawls resumed 2020-11-24.

In March of 2020 daily crawls were scheduled to capture the Institute response to COVID-19.

Subseries consists of resource materials created by other departments at BCIT, or documents created by external institutions that have been used by the President's Office. Documents include reports, proposals, assessments, publications, etc.
