Angelo, Mark

Angelo is a Canadian river conservationist, writer, speaker, teacher and paddler. He founded and is the chair of BC Rivers Day and World Rivers Day (held the last Saturday of each September). In 2009, Angelo was appointed as the inaugural chair of the Rivers Institute at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). Prior to that, he was the long-time head of the Fish, Wildlife and Recreation Program at BCIT. Angelo has received the Order of British Columbia and the Order of Canada in recognition of his river conservation efforts. In 2009, he was awarded an honorary doctorate from Simon Fraser University for his river conservation work both locally and globally.

May Archer was part of the CBE (Computer-Based Education) planning group responsible for creating a common understanding of what CBE is, and outlining the objectives for a CBE project at BCIT in 1984-85. Specifically, she served as the coordinator and the representative from Instructional Development.

Henry Arthur served as BCIT’s executive director of International Education. He was the chairman of BCIT’s Educational Council in 1980, in which capacity he called for the council to become more involved with Ministry studies that were underway at the time, so that they might have a greater say in the future of education at BCIT. He was also appointed as the interim president of TransTech in 1995.
